Project Title

Rehabilitation of District Roads in the Ten Oil Seed Growing Districts of Gulu, Lira, Apac, Masindi, Mubende, Kamuli, Kiboga, Kibaale, Busia and Pallisa

Project Description

A USAID funded development project managed by ACDI VOCA, a USA NGO, that aimed at assisting ten grain growing districts to open up roads in rural areas to access markets for their agricultural produce as well as open up security roads at the height of the LRA insurgency when bridges were often vandalised and/or wrecked by the rebels and roads became overgrown, making it difficult for government forces to deploy quickly.  The districts contributed to executing of the physical works by offering their road mechanical plant, equipment and operators.  About  900 km were rehabilitated.

Services Rendered

MBW designed and supervised the road rehabilitation works and prepared & submitted periodic reports to the district and USAID. MBW, working closely with ACDI VOCA, managed the funds given by USAID to operate the equipment and purchase other inputs such as pipe culverts, cement, steel bars, aggregates and labour for bridge reconstruction.
