Eng. Patrick Mutenga Batumbya -

CEO /Principal Civil Structural Engineer

Eng. Batumbya is a registered Civil/Structural Engineer with over 40 years of experience in the Engineering profession, a Fellow of the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers and on the Executive Committee of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers, FIDIC. He is the Managing Director of MBW Consulting Engineers, a member of the Uganda Association of Consulting Engineers.

Eng. Batumbya is a well-known structural engineer with a long reference of successfully executed professional assignments including conceptual, feasibility and detailed designs for numerous multi-storey buildings, factories, bridges and other structures, prepared tender documentation, procured contractors and supervised construction activities.

Wayne A. Slack -

RES Director

Wayne Slack is a Civil Engineer with over 35 years of international including short and long term assignments in Kenya, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Ghana, Pakistan, the Philippines and over 16 years while resident in Uganda.

He has accumulated a vast knowledge of the intricacies of project management of both public and private infrastructure design, preparation of contract documents and construction supervision projects.

Mr. Slack is a Director of MBW Consulting Engineers of Uganda.

Michael Byakabasa -

Finance Director / Quality Manager

Michael Collins Byakabasa MBA FCCA CPA(U) is MBW’s Finance Director and Quality Manager. He is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and registered member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU). Michael has over 12 years of international experience in business, accounting, financial management and ISO 9001 quality management systems. He is in charge of the company’s overall financial policy and planning as well as liaising with stakeholders on financial and quality management matters.

Saul Matege

HSE Manager

Saul is a Civil Engineer with a Master’s Degree (Distinction) in Engineering Project Management , Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering (Hons.), and an HSE Practitioner with an International Construction Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.

He has over 8 years’ working experience in the civil engineering field and the Oil and Gas industry during which he has participated in various projects involving project management, design and construction supervision of buildings, civil and road works including road condition assessment, traffic studies, road pavement design, preparation of detailed drawings, production of BOQ’s and cost estimates, tender documentation, site supervision. He is also carried out the supervision/ monitoring implementation of project Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) and social safeguards, he is in charge of creation & monitoring implementation of EHS Management Systems .

Eng. Joel Ssozi Kyobe -

Projects Manager /Engineering & Architecture Manager /Principal Bridge Engineer

Kyobe Joel is a registered Civil Engineer with over 15 years’ experience in project management and contract administration; civil and structural engineering design; bridge design and appraisal; Oil drill pad design; preparation of feasibility and engineering studies; construction supervision; reporting and documentation; tender documentation and procurement; management of claims and dispute resolution; team organization and leadership as well as test pumping supervision.

Mugoowa Mugote Emmanuel -

Business Development Manager

Mugoowa Mugote Emmanuel is a qualified Civil Engineer who holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering Degree and an MBA from Edenborough Business School, UK with over 13 years working experience in the Engineering field. He has particular expertise in project management, feasibility study, design, and supervision of a wide range of engineering projects.

As MBW’s Business Development Manager, he is in charge of production of project proposals to various clients and in many different areas as well as forming relationships with various technical partners in and outside the country.

Bamusonighe Samuel William -

Finance Manager

Sam is a highly qualified accounting and financial Manager with more than 15 years of progressive career especially in finance and operations management.

He has a proven ability to improve operations, impact business growth & maximize profits through contributions in financial management, cost reductions & productivity improvements.

Ben Waira -

Administration /Logistics Manager

Ben Waira is the Administration manager of MBW. He holds a diploma in accounting and has a working experience of more than 16 years. He is charged with invoicing the company’s clients and following up payments.

Jackie Abonwaku Makaka

Human Resource Manager

Jackie Abonwaku is MBW’s human resource manager who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Social Administration from Makerere University with four years of experience in the administrative profession. She has among other things, assisted in administration department with projects management and production of project proposals, company profile design and attending to employee welfare issues as well as dispute resolution.

Eng. James Christopher Kirunda -

Senior Roads /Highways Engineer

Eng. James C. Kirunda is a registered civil engineer and fellow of the International Road Federation with more than 40 years of experience in road engineering projects and bridge structures in Uganda and Swaziland. During his career he has been involved in project management, planning, feasibility studies, design, supervision of construction and rehabilitation of roads/highways, financial appraisal, preparation of contract documents and procurement of related services. He has demonstrated ability to coordinate team members for productive inputs. He also claims control and negotiating skills gained from working with different contractors coming with various technologies and methods, locally and in the region.
